Week 4 Update

Week 4 Update

Hello Sailfish families!

Congrats on a great first meet of the season against the Woodlea Watermocs! Let’s continue the momentum moving into this week’s meet on Wednesday vs the Belmont Sharks at the Belmont pool. Hoping to see some improved stroke form and more time drops as we move into the coming weeks! Here’s what is on the agenda for week 4:

*** Declarations for Wednesday, June 17th, meet are DUE NO LATER THAN 11:59pm Sunday (6/15) night!*** There will be no late additions.

Big and Little Sailfish practice start in the morning tomorrow, Monday June 15th! We are welcoming Hope and Aaron VanTuyle back to the pool deck as our lead coaches for little sailfish! You should be receiving a Welcome email from Coach Hope and Coach Aaron, so be on the lookout.

** There is also a Mini Meet this Thursday June 18th at Potomac Crossing at 9:00am. More information should be coming out regarding arrival times.

As we now switch to morning practices, be sure to check our website for time changes as we add a little more practice time to our two groups (8 & under and our 9-12yr kids).

Pancake breakfast to kick off morning practice is on Monday June 15th. Swimmers will swim their usual practice times and enjoy pancakes after practice.

The weather is getting warmer- please make sure your swimmers have water with them on deck, and drink it, during practice! This will help with cramping and dehydration as the days are warm and yardage increases.

Don’t forget sunscreen if you are prone to burning. The sun is getting more intense now that we are moving into summer!

REMINDERS FOR MEET DAYS:

Please pick up your trash before leaving the pool deck! We had to pick up quite of bit of leftover trash on Woodlea’s deck prior to leaving so please remind your swimmer to throw their trash away before leaving!

If you mark you will attend relays, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE MEET! We have to do last minute shuffling and it really is not fair if you leave and the others on your relay team are no longer able to swim.

Please make sure your swimmers have their Potomac Station swim caps for meet days.

SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK:

(We shout out to swimmers who we have seen go above and beyond with kindness, helping out on deck, sportsmanship, leadership, and improvements in their swimming abilities.)

Emma Yourish- great listener and always ready to go

Caleb Maxwell- for helping out with lane lines after time trials

Magdelena Gore- helping out after time trials

Arjun Patel- being respectful, friendly, and responsive to advice

Way to go, swimmers! Keep up the good work each and everyday!

Looking forward to seeing everyone Monday morning for practice!

Coach Tasha, Coach Adam, and Coach Ava
